We inspire a radical generosity that transforms our lives, communities, and world.
It all started with four friends
Back in the 90s, giving was at an all-time low among Christians, and four friends set out to find out how they could turn the tide.
They started by talking to people they knew who were living outrageously generous lives, and noticed that each carried a sense of incredible joy as a result of their giving.
It all clicked into place: by removing any pressure on themselves and trusting in God as the provider of all their finances, they could experience full freedom and be bold with their giving!
Holding contagious conversations
This newfound excitement for radical generosity was contagious, and they began inviting more and more friends to join the conversation.
Imagine...
... new family legacies built on generosity with new generations of children growing up with this rich tradition.
...all the resources we could free up
... all the good we could do.
Now, anyone can join
In 2000, the Maclellan Foundation funded the launch of Generous Giving in the United States to create a neutral place for these conversations.
Generosity knows no borders, and soon people around the world started asking us to bring these conversations into their country and in their language.
In 2012, Generosity Path was created to take this conversation global. We host experiences to explore Jesus-like generosity through conversations with peers, whether in the board room or the living room, online or in-person. We are still privately funded by a small group of foundations and individual givers today, so we never have to raise money at any of our events.
Our desire is for hearts to be captured by Jesus’ teaching that it is more blessed to give than to receive. We want our retreat participants to feel liberated by having like-minded people to speak with, and be inspired to build community in their giving.
And be part of the movement of generosity
With contributors such as Francis Chan, Hanna Verboom, and Tim Keller, we keep on learning together. We're not here to teach you or tell you how to give. We're here to share a story, start the conversation, and look on in wonder at what God does next.
We believe that radical, Jesus-like generosity leads to communities united, the homeless housed, the hungry fed, the vulnerable protected, and the unreached embraced. This is the adventure that will forever change our lives, communities, and world!
